A Different Way

The patient-practitioner relationship has always been a respected one for many generations, one of gratitude and respect. In the modern day, other factors get in the way like money. So we will be implementing a different way to deliver the fees for services rendered. All stated fees will be considered customary suggested fees. So what does this mean?

Simply put, if an acupuncture session costs $140, and for whatever reason, for that day, you are unable to cover the full costs, then you can pay less with no judgement. So with a 'pay what you can' policy, we will allow patients the opportunity to have their full hour session of acupuncture. 

This pricing structure will also be allowed for some services that will be offered and listed on our Services page.

Any supplements, topicals, devices, herbs, other hard sale items, and memberships will be sold as listed at full price according to the office and prices are subject to change at anytime.

New Patient Visit: $200

Shamiso Mucherera

New Patient Visit: $150

Acupuncture, Return Visit: $120* (acu+reiki: $165)

Reiki: $65 (30min) & $130 (60min)

New Patient Visit

After registration, all new patients will be booked for 1 Hour with the practitioner about your case as well as have diagnostics and a personalized treatment plan discussed. A treatment may or may not follow the consult depending on practitioner’s discretion.

Sessions will be a solid hour based on time booked. So if you are running behind, then your session may be shorter. Rates are $200 with Howard Kim and $150 with Shamiso Mucherera for all first time self-pay patients. This will apply to all new self-pay patients only (for those utilizing insurance, please read the description under Insurance).

Acupuncture

Follow up Acupuncture visits are 1 Hour and will include but not limited to, consultation and/or re-evaluation, acupuncture, medically necessary manual therapies (e.g. ART, Cupping, Gua Sha), and far-infrared therapy.

Sessions will be a solid hour based on time booked. So if you are running behind, then your session may be shorter.

Reiki

Reiki visits are 30 Minutes or 1 Hour with Shamiso Mucherera for both new patients and returning patients. This is an energy therapy where the practitioner uses light touch or hands just above the body to encourage energy flow and bringing homeostasis back to the body. This process helps activate the body’s natural relaxation response, reducing stress and relieving pain or any other ailment harming the body. Reiki helps support mental and physical balance throughout the body.

Sessions will be set at 30 Minutes or a solid hour based on time booked. So if you are running behind, your session might need to be rescheduled.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a 90 Minute session with Shamiso Mucherera for both new patients and returning patients. This is a holistic skin rejuvenation technique that stimulates your body’s natural healing process to reveal a radiant, youthful complexion. It encourages collagen and elastin production, which are essential for reducing fine lines, wrinkles, and scars. Unlike invasive treatments, microneedling works with your body’s innate ability to repair itself, promoting a healthier, more balanced skin tone and texture over time. It’s a gentle yet powerful way to refresh your skin, harnessing nature’s restorative power for a glowing, revitalized look.

Sessions will be set at 90 Minutes based on time booked. So if you are running behind, your session may be shorter.

Needle Less Therapies

Follow up Needle Less Therapies or Manual Therapies are 30 Minute sessions that will include therapies medically necessary according to the physician. Active Release Technique, Chinese Tui-Na Massage, Cupping, Gua Sha (Scrapping), Tension Point Therapy, Far-Infrared Therapy, and a series of other modalities may be utilized. 

Sessions will be set at 30 Minutes based on time booked. So if you are running behind, then your session may be shorter.

Consultation

Follow up Consultation visits are 30 Minute sessions designed for discussing and determining lifestyle changes to help your case. Life Coaching, Chinese Dietetics (Food Therapy), Stress Management, Herbal Consultation and Spiritual-Mental Outlook, all according to Chinese medicine principles can be utilized in a session. Sessions are not that dissimilar to a standard counseling session and no acupuncture or manual therapies will be applied. Herbals may be recommended.

Sessions will be set at 30 Minutes based on time booked. So if you are running behind, then your session may be shorter.

Insurance

We do not accept Medicare/Medicaid policies.

We are out of network with all payers except United Healthcare Choice Plus PPO plans. If your insurance plan is an HMO, out of network providers are not covered. If your plan is a PPO then it will likely provide some level of coverage. Since we do not have knowledge of the details of every insurance plans available, and since every plan is different from state to state, please contact and check with your insurance company/broker to find out if you have acupuncture coverage with your particular plan. Filing a claim is not a guarantee of payment.

As a patient, it is your responsibility to ensure you are covered for the services you receive and to provide accurate insurance information to facilitate the billing process. In the case that your own verification has not been done, a superbill can be issued after the office fees have been met. As a courtesy to you, we will submit claims to these companies on your behalf for companies we’re in-network with only. Patients upon signing new patient agreements, understand that it is the patient’s responsibility to ensure that all co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles are paid for and met with every visit as detailed in your policy. Services are billed to your insurance based on our Fee Schedule.

Sliding scale, Donation-based, & Pay-What-You-Can visits will not be considered for insurance cases and claims.

Donations

Donations from Patient Partners that wish to donate to Howard Kim Acupuncture will be used to help expand the clinic for future growth and the ability to help reach more people that need care.

2% of all donations and proceeds accepted will be given to local charities and organizations that are in need.

*All fees are considered suggested amounts. Patients are allowed to pay more or less depending on need and want. We do ask for a suggested payment of $80 so that we may cover expenses and be able to continue providing care to those that need it. ‘Pay-what-you-can’ will still be applicable, so if you are unable to cover suggested amounts, treatment will be gifted. All prices and fees are subject to change at anytime. ‘Pay-what-you-can’ model and donations are for treatments and consultations only. All Herbals, Supplements, Oils, Liniments, Medical Devices, Incense, and other hard sale items are full price according to the office and prices are subject to change at anytime.

*Consultation Visits are NOT mental health counseling or psychiatric counseling, nor should they be considered an alternative to such. This session is classified as a life coaching session and is not meant to be a replacement to a medically prescribed or court ordered mental health counseling session. All persons who require psychiatric or mental health counseling should contact a licensed mental health counselor.
